Sero Consulting Ltd and Hedtek Ltd were commissioned by JISC to develop a synthesis of work in the Information Environment programme, including a number of Rapid Innovation projects, pertaining to ‘personalisation’ in its various guises.
Projects
A total of 25 projects were identified as having made representative contributions in this field (2007-9), in the form of analysis, user research, prototyping, service development and examination of key technical and operational issues.

- A matrix of projects showing the kinds of personalisation implemented and considered by the projects. For each project further links are made to project-specific recommendations, technical information about the projects and automatically generated extracts produced by Cirilab.
- The personalisation Landscape.
- A Technical Overview of the projects and their architecture.
- A Wordle highlighting key terms in the project reports.
More details of the information which can be accessed from the project matrix is as follows:
- Projects directory – core information including links to the project reports and their demonstrators, accessible by clicking on the project name in the matrix.
- Six columns that indicate the focus of each project in terms of personalisation type, which should assist in selecting projects relevant to your interests.
- Project Recommendations Catalogue – recommendations relating to personalisation taken directly from project reports (which may also contain recommendations in other areas).
- Technical Information – introduction to the technical approach adopted by each project; note that some of the projects reviewed here did not involve development.
- Cirilab Extracts – personalisation related text from the project reports highlighted through use of Cirilab, an automated ‘text analysis’ tool.
